Windows 10 / 11

Connect from the tray or PowerShell

OpenVPN GUI gives you the quick Connect and Disconnect switch in the notification area.

App · easiest

  1. Install OpenVPN Community Edition for Windows. The installer includes OpenVPN GUI.
  2. Open OpenVPN GUI from Start. Find its icon in the notification area, including the hidden icons menu.

macOS

Connect from the menu bar or Terminal

The Aldvyn 0.1.13 beta offers a menu-bar app and one-command Terminal control on Apple Silicon. Tunnelblick offers another free menu-bar switch.

Aldvyn desktop beta · Apple Silicon

Download the unsigned internal beta package and checksum file. The exact 0.1.13 package passed installation, its local controller, and a real VPN tunnel on a physical Mac. The menu-bar interface still needs full graphical acceptance.

Download Mac package · Download checksums

cd "$HOME/Downloads" grep 'aldvyn-desktop-0.1.13-macos-arm64-unsigned.pkg' SHA256SUMS | shasum -a 256 -c - sudo installer -pkg aldvyn-desktop-0.1.13-macos-arm64-unsigned.pkg -target / aldvyn login aldvyn connect

Continue only if the checksum says OK. This beta package is unsigned; macOS may warn about it. This Mac package includes its VPN runtime; Homebrew is not needed for the Aldvyn commands. Sign in with your Aldvyn username, password, and current authenticator code. Your private device profile is created automatically after approval. Use aldvyn status, aldvyn servers, and aldvyn disconnect as needed. Your Mac may ask for its administrator password to install the package and start OpenVPN.

  1. Install Tunnelblick and open it.
  2. Double-click your downloaded .ovpn file, or drag it onto the Tunnelblick icon in the menu bar. Approve the import.

Download AMD64 · Download ARM64 · Download checksums

cd "$HOME/Downloads" sha256sum -c --ignore-missing SHA256SUMS sudo apt install "./aldvyn-cli_0.1.13~beta1_$(dpkg --print-architecture).deb" aldvyn login aldvyn connect

Chrome companion · developer beta

A quick Connect switch on Mac

The 0.1.13 Mac package includes a login-time local controller and Chrome bridge. The extension presents a one-server Connect/Disconnect switch; a server picker appears when more approved servers are available.

  1. Install the Mac package above and run aldvyn login in Terminal.
  2. The installer starts the local controller at login. If the extension reports it unavailable, run aldvyn agent in Terminal. Approve any macOS administrator request locally.
  3. Download the Chrome companion, unzip it, open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode, then choose Load unpacked and select the extracted folder.
  4. Copy the 32-letter extension ID shown by Chrome. In Terminal, run aldvyn-native-host --install EXTENSION_ID with that ID.
  5. Open Aldvyn from Chrome’s extensions menu and click Connect or Disconnect.

This developer beta has a native-tested Mac bridge and real VPN tunnel. Installing the extension in Chrome and clicking through the full flow is still being tested.

Help & safety

Keep the connection private

  • Your .ovpn file contains this device’s private key. Do not email, post, or share it. Keep it only on that device and delete extra downloads after importing it into an app.
  • Use a fresh six-digit code from your authenticator app each time you connect. The code changes frequently; do not save it in the VPN app.
  • If your device is lost or the profile is exposed, ask an Aldvyn administrator to revoke that device under Devices. Then create a new profile after approval if needed.
  • If you cannot create a profile, check My access for your approval and expiration status. An admin can help with sign-in and route issues.
  • The Chrome companion controls the installed Mac beta through its local controller. If that controller is unavailable, use the terminal steps above. The Aldvyn menu-bar beta is available on Apple Silicon; its full graphical flow is still being tested.
